Problem:

Distortion is normally caused by differences in shrinkage and/or orientation from one area to another.

Solution:

  1. Ensure balanced filling of the mould.
  2. Aim for uniform packing of the mold .
  3. Increase the injection speed.
  4. Ensure uniform and symmetrical cooling of the moulding.
  5. Choose a more free-flowing plastic material.
  6. Consider changing the material to one having a lower amount of shrinkage.
  7. Reduce differences in wall thickness.
  8. Stiffen up areas showing deflections by adding ribs.
  9. Avoid sharp corners.
  10. Move the gate to change fibre orientation.
  11. Seriously consider CAE simulation.
